Strategic Approach The network strategy is to concentrate on two distinct area of priority: Enabling adoption by providing adequate policytools, including enabling policies and awareness towards decision makers, industry and governments A programme of activity to raise general awareness of RFID among users, SMEs and the general public In effect a “push” and “pull” approach

  10. Resources to achieve our strategy • In order to achieve our strategy, we have developed a series of work packages (WP) broadly based around each key point. • One network member is leading each WP, supported by a number of other network members.

Management and Coordination The network has put a 3-tier management structure in place: 1 A professional external coordinator (WP8) working closely with a 2 Management Board made up of all WP leaders plus 3 GA members advised by a 3 General Assembly representing the views of all network members NOW DISCUSSING A SUSTAINABILITY MODEL

  22. Success Criteria We believe the network can be considered a success if the following have been achieved by the end of Year 2: 200 Members 80 case studies in database Governments in 10 States active

Work Package 9 • The main tasks will be to establish details of existing National Government initiatives and support programmes relating to RFID: • Establish a communication pack to go to all Governments • and Government agencies outlining what RACE • networkRFID  is, what it is doing and how we can help • Plan  workshops at which Governments • can give examples of their own Best Practice and get an • overview of what is happening in the RFID marketplace • generally • Develop a framework and a set of deliverables for creating • member-state-funded national centres for RFID • It is planned that the work of WP9 will commence at the RFIDinEUROPE event in Prague, March 2011

Summary The RACE NetworkRFID project is committed to demonstrating the benefits of RFID as a business improvement process and a tool for enhanced social cohesion across the greater EU region After a difficult first year, the network is now focused on a series of specific and targeted actions to support the SME community Helpful and positive support has been received by the EC assessors to help develop these actions The network is confident of a successful future for the project EUROPE – LEADING THE WORLD
