  2. Time Period • The war started in 1914 and ended in 1918. • In 1914 Austria-Hungary’s Archduke Francis Ferdinand and his wife were shot by a person from Serbia. • By 1914 nations all over Europe had new technology.

  3. Location of WW1 • U.S., France, Russia, Germany, Italy, and China etc. • There were thirty one countries in all.

  4. Causes of WW1 • The first reason why WW1 started was because of nationalism. • The second reason why WW1 started was wanted military strength. • The third reason why it started because all of Europe wanted colonies. • The fourth reason why it started was because some nations made alliances

  5. Weapons • New weapons crippled “The Frozen Front” • Poison Gas [Also called The Mustard Gas] • Hand Grenades • Flame Throwers • Tanks • Airplanes • Submarines

  6. Facts • Germany and Austria – Hungary were the two main nations of an alliance called the central power. • They dropped down dogs from airplanes.

  7. More facts • There were 37,000,000 casualties. • Millions of people died. • In 10 months 700,000 people died. • 91,198 deaths by gas. • 6,395 allied and neutral ship were lost.

  8. WW1 Importance • The reason why WW1 was important was because it was one of the American history. • King Albert I

  9. The Treaty of Versailles • The treaty was a treat to punish Germany for its role in WW1. • Germans had to pay billions of dollars to the Allies.
