  1. Mr. Harper’s science mini lesson with audio TheExcretorySystem How your kidneys clean your blood

  2. Our bodies are made up of many different types of living cells. v cell cellular waste

  3. There are many billions of cells in our bodies. One cell is too small to see without a microscope. v cell cellular waste

  4. Like all living things, our cells make waste (go to the toilet). v cell cellular waste

  5. Cells must get rid of their waste or they will die. Cells get rid of their waste by dumping it into the blood. Every cell lives next to a tiny blood vessel (capillary). capillary Blood in the capillary Bloodflow in capillary Cellular waste Cellular waste cell cell cell cell cell cell

  6. Blood carries the waste away to the kidneys where the blood is filtered and cleaned. v v kidneys

  7. The kidneys remove the cellular waste from your blood.

  8. Blood flows through the kidneys where the waste is filtered out. Urine flows to the bladder

  9. The cellular waste products are sent from the kidneys as urine (a yellow liquid)in tubes called jjjjjjjjjjjjureters, or urine tubes.

  10. The ureters take urine to a bag-like muscle called the bladder where it is stored until we go to the bathroom.

  11. Every fifth grader should know that the kidneys clean the blood (remove the cellular waste).

  12. Every fifth grader should know that the bladder stores urine until we let it out in the toilet.

  13. Every fifth grader should know the kidneys are the main organs in the excretorysystem, which is sometimes called the urinary system. excretorysystem

  14. The excretory systemremoves cellular waste from the body. It’s often called the urinary system because urine is how the waste leaves the body.

  15. Now let’s see how much of the information you remembered.
