  2. A little history…. • Lovejoy Swimming • Began in 2006 • 4 different pools • 2012-#1 ranked 3A girls team-boys ranked #2 • First State Champion-Emily Nightingale- 500 yard freestyle • Current team-37 swimmers

  3. About the Coaches… • Greg Fisher • 29 years coaching swimming • 17th year coaching high school/middle school • Coached Southlake Carroll Boys to a State Championship in 2001 • 6th year at Lovejoy • Teach 9th grade World Geography

  4. Kristen Pereira • 10 year swim coaching experience (club, summer leagues, assistant high school) • Swam club for ten years (ATAC, Metro) • Teaches 11th grade AP US history • 1st year at Lovejoy

  5. MIDDLE SCHOOLSWIM PROGRAM • The goal of the middle school program is to prepare athletes for varsity competition. • We will teach proper swim technique in all four competitive swimming strokes. • We will work on proper starts and turns. • The students will learn the work it takes to be successful at the high school level and beyond.

  6. Where are tryouts? • Try outs will be held on January 8th and 10th at Oak Point (6000 Jupiter, Plano) • We will meet at Willow Springs on January 6th and 7th.

  7. When is Practice? • Students should be dropped off at Oak Point Center (6000 Jupiter Rd, Plano) at 7:20am and read to swim at 7:30 • Practice will go until 8:40 • The bus will pick up the swimmers at 9:10 and they should return to school around 9:45 • No school-no practice

  9. Students will get ready for school at the pool before they get on the bus back to Willow Springs. They need to have everything with them to get dressed for school. We will watch any belongings they need to leave in the bleachers. If they have any valuables, they should bring a lock and use a locker.

  10. What about meets? • We are unique at Lovejoy • 3 or 4 meets • Run from late March to mid-May • A bus will take them to and from the meet • Swimmers need a black suit • Lovejoy will provide a team cap

  11. Middle School Swimming Events • 200 yard medley relay • 100 yard freestyle • 100 yard individual medley • 50 yard freestyle • 1 meter diving (6 dives) • 50 yard butterfly • 200 yard freestyle • 50 yard backstroke • 50 yard breaststroke • 200 yard freestyle relay

  12. BOOSTER CLUB • Supports the Lovejoy Swimming and Diving Program

  13. HIGH SCHOOL SWIM TEAM • Practices from 7:00 to 8:45 am • Oak Point Center- Plano, Tx • Competitive district

  14. ATTENDANCE AND GRADING POLICY • Students are expected to be at practice every day. Students are also expected to participate each day. • Students will also be graded on their attitude as it pertains to the team.
