But first, you have to know what size will fit your belt the best, and hold it in place all day. Blending: If you want The Tuck™ to act as a fix-it product and blend into your belt, use the black and brown colors on black or brown belts- no one will know it is there! Popping: If you want The Tuck™ to add a pop of excitement to your outfit, use the metallic ones and either match them to your buckle or accessories, or just let it stand out against another color! Color-blocking: Color-blocked belts are extremely chic right now, but the options can be expensive (see Rag & Bone and Gorjana examples below). One woman would rise to fight the Flopidemic: Remy Kassimir, The Mother Tucker. Remy grew up in New York City, the fashion capital of the world, which was perfect, since she absolutely loved clothing and style. One summer in 2011 she was working at a fashion PR company in the heart of the meatpacking district- the trendiest of districts. At that time, belts were slowly on the rise, becoming not just a way to hold up pants, but as an accessory to accentuate womens’ waists, or as a fun pop to any outfit. Always wanting to be chic, Remy quickly got on board with the belt trend, and started using them in all of her outfits. But– she would always be met with one massive problem– her belts were too long, and would flop. She quickly turned to the blog-o-sphere for suggestions: They recommended getting belts shortened: “No, thattakes time and costs money,” she said, “and if I shorten a belt to fit my waist, it will never fit my hips!” So shortening was out. They recommended using different fasteners: tape, paper clips, bobby pins, rubber bands etc. “No, those things look even less fashionable than the flop, & they don’t even hold it in place!” So fasteners were out. They recommended intricate loops/ knotting techniques: “If I wanted to crack and ruin my belts those would be great. But no. I like these belts in tact, just the way they are.” So knotting was out. With all of these terrible suggestions, she decided to make her own solution. She headed to a fabric store after work, got some leather and elastic, and began sewing away. After some time, The Tuck™ was born! She wondered if other people might want The Tuck™ too, and launched aKickstartercampaign.
