Allebach, Prof. Edward J Delp, Shao-Fu Xue • Major Components: • Raspberry Pi – Powerhouse, GUI • Raspberry-Pi is a credit-card-sized • simple computer developed in UK • 2) Based on ARM1176JZF-S • (700 MHz), up to 512M memory • Wiimote – Infrared camera, • Bluetooth connection • Infrared camera: 1024x768 pixels resolution • 100 Hz refresh rate, 45 degree horizontal field view • Bluetooth connection: Broadcom 2042 chip • Background: • Goal: To create a low-cost whiteboard using Raspberry Pi, Wiimote and Infrared pen. • Key Features: • Affordability: Built under $100 vs. $1000 • Portability: Packaged into a 5”x3”x2.5” box • Simplicity: Used on any surface • Easy-to-configuration: less than 1 hr 1. Setup, connect RPi to projector or display, run "Whiteboard" application • How it works: • Utilize Wii remote's infrared camera to detect IR pen motion, develop an "Whiteboard" application which runs on Raspberry Pi, the interactive whiteboard could be any surface, through projector or display. • Current Progress • Configured Raspberry Pi • Connected Wiimote with RPi through Bluetooth • Ability to control mouse with synchronized data captured from IR camera • Future Development • Create GUI for whiteboard • Implement multi sources tracking 2. Perform calibration, then able to use IR pen to control the cursor • Open source library: • CWiiD - Python module to control Wiimote • Pygame – GUI development • Xlib – Mouse/Keyboard control 3. Draw on the "Whiteboard"
