“The happiest sound in the world.” 1. Happy newlywed young couple. 2. They feel like their marriage isn’t fulfilled so they decide to try for children. 3. They find out they can’t have children 4. They decide to adopt a child and find a boy who has been in care all his life. 5. They have a birthday party for his 10th birthday.
Synopsis… The film follows a newlywed couple, Rupert and Lara, who feel like their is something missing from their life as all of their friends start families. They decide to start trying for a child, but are unsuccessful. They go to a doctor and are told that Lara is infertile. The couple are distraught and the situation starts to pull the two apart as the guilt Lara is feeling pushes her away from Rupert. The two decide to go out for lunch as they haven’t been spending enough time together. Outside the restaurant is a young boy busking on the street. Lara gives him some change and as she approaches him, she realises that he is raising money for an orphanage. Later when she’s home she tells Rupert about the orphanage. They decide to visit it. When they’re there Lara sees the busker, Ben, from the day before. While talking to him she finds out that his parents died just after he was born and he has been living in the orphanage since. He says that families aren’t interested in him seeing as he is older. Lara and Rupert decide to adopt him. The film ends with Lara, Rupert and Ben at Ben’s 12th birthday party. He is singing.
