  6. Grassland Plants Adaptions Prairie trees have thick bark to resist from fire Prairie shrubs grow right after a fire Plants take advantage of the wind and are wind pollinated

  7. Big Bluestem Grass Also know as Turkey Feet because the shape of the seed head looks like turkey feet or Beard Grass Blooms from June through September Grow to 3-10 ft. Food for American bison

  8. Milkweed Produces red and yellow blossoms in the spring Has a white poisonous sap which is where it gets its name from Attracts bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds

  9. Fleabane Blooms from April through June Looks like a daisy About 100 ray-like petals being either pink or white Grow in clusters

  10. Indian Grass Known as season grass starting to grow in May Has yellow seed heads that have white hairs Long, flat, narrow leaves

  11. June Grass Pale slivery colored flowers 1-2 ft. Grows in the summer Eaten by grazing livestock and wild animals

  29. Mutualism A bird will eat ticks off of Buffalo The buffalo will benefit in getting the ticks off of it The bird will benefit in getting a tasty meal

  30. Benefits Great soil comes from the grassland. Beautiful plants grow. Tasty food from the animals that live in a grassland. Basically any plant can be grown

  31. Threats Farmers not rotating crops causing the soil not letting things grow there for about 3 years. Development for urban areas destroying the grassland. Over killing of the amazing animals that live in the grassland.
