Introduction • According to Nelson’s New Illustrated Bible Dictionary, figs are a fruit-producing plant that can either grow as a tall tree or a low-spreading shrub. The size of the tree depends on its location and soil. The blooms of the fig tree appear before the leaves in spring. Fig trees usually produce two crops a year.
