  1. Remember last lesson… What did we learn about India? Due to a technical hitch we are still circling above Bombay airport… Do not panic to pass time your air steward is going to set you a task about the human geography of India Thanks to Sarah Todd and her colleagues at Stanchester High School, Somerset made available through www.sln.org.uk/geography

  2. Today you are going to investigate where people live in India and the reasons for this. Thanks to Sarah Todd and her colleagues at Stanchester High School, Somerset made available through www.sln.org.uk/geography

  3. Ensure that your seatbelts remain fastened and your chair is in the upright position until the captain tells you otherwise. • While we are circling Bombay you are going to look from above at the resources India has and try and predict where most of its population live. Thanks to Sarah Todd and her colleagues at Stanchester High School, Somerset made available through www.sln.org.uk/geography

  4. What do we have here? You have 4 maps of India, each showing you a different resource. Analyse these resources and interpret where you think most people live and the reasons for this. How did you do? Look at why each resource may or may not encourage people to live by it and why. Thanks to Sarah Todd and her colleagues at Stanchester High School, Somerset made available through www.sln.org.uk/geography

  5. With the group next to you, compare where you thought people would live and why you thought this. Were your ideas similar? If not make sure you understand your own and their reasoning. Now lay the acetate of actual population distribution out on each of the four maps and compare population distribution with each resource. Is the population distribution as you expected it to be? ‘Why?’ ‘Why not?’ Where did you put people and why? Thanks to Sarah Todd and her colleagues at Stanchester High School, Somerset made available through www.sln.org.uk/geography

  6. Lets Annotate On your tracing paper, you have to copy and annotate where people live in India and why they live there. Remember that a good geographer and traveller always know what things are happening in a country and why! Thanks to Sarah Todd and her colleagues at Stanchester High School, Somerset made available through www.sln.org.uk/geography
