Lawrence Sullivan Ross "Sul" 1838-1898 • The university is named after Lawrence Sullivan "Sul" Ross. • He was a Texas Ranger, Civil War general, Governor of Texas and, later, President of Texas A&M University. • Sul Ross attended Baylor University • He nearly lost his life during a battle with Comanches. • As a Texas Ranger, he served in Young County and the surrounding area. • Do you think he ate at our Dairy Queen?
