  5. Setting The Stage • In little more than a decade a massive war would break out in Europe and spread around the world.

  9. Cause & effect-#1-Nationalism • A=Extreme pride in ones country. It became very intense in Europe • B. Led to intense competition and rivalry between the great powers.

  10. #2 Imperialsim • A. When a powerful nation controls a weaker one • B. Competition over resources, colonies, and power increased imperialism.

  11. Militarism • A=Glorification of the Military • B=Europeans built larger and larger militaries for protection.
