  2. Problem: Adult Salmon Attempt to Spawn in Sulphur Creek Wasteway • Exclusion barrier concept • Review scientific information regarding the wasteway • Update plans for barrier project

  3. Picket, Vertical Drop, Velocity, Electric, Leaf Gate, Horizontal Draft Tube, others?

  4. Sulphur Creek Wasteway drains 102,400 Acres, or about 160 sq. mi.

  5. Wasteway was constructed in 1909.

  6. Proposed Solution: SULPHUR CREEK WASTEWAY FISH PASSAGE BARRIER

  7. Original Design: Vertical Drop Structure Objective is to provide a total project head in excess of leaping ability of salmon and steelhead.

  8. This gate can be opened or closed depending on management goals.

  9. New Criteria • Velocity Gradient Barrier

  10. Sulphur Creek Wasteway at Holaday Rd, SUCW stream gage.
