  3. Definitions • Appendix - Extra material that is collected and appended (added on) at the end of a book. May refer to an index (which gives page numbers for people, places, or things mentioned in the book). • This is different from a footnote, which cites a reference for only one part of a text. wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn 

  4. Definitions • Heading - Line of text serving to indicate what the passage below it is about. It is like a headline. • Headings can emphasize or tell people what information is where, like the topic at the top or beginning of a paragraph. wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn 

  5. Definitions • Subheading - The heading or title of a subdivision of a printed subject. This is secondary to the heading. www.thefreedictionary.com/subheading

  6. Definitions • Marginal Notes – Notes written or printed in the margin of a book. • What is a margin? …It is the edge or border of a paper. Why might we want to use marginal notes?

  12. Definitions • Fact box – Highlights statistics and essential information from the article. Usually in box form. • In a sense, it is “a box of facts”, but you can be more specific than this! 
