Center for Joint & Strategic Logistics Excellence • Vision: Create premier education center with ability to provide analysis to improve joint and strategic logistics education, expertise, and competence throughout the Defense, interagency, and multinational communities • Mission: Develop leaders who understand and employ the “force multiplying effect” of joint and strategic logistics. Center attributes: • SCM Oriented / Insightful / Unbiased / Dispassionate / Analytical • Milestones: • Letter to Deputy SECDEF proposing CJSLE from DLA, USTC, DUSD (L&MR) (17 Aug 07); Letter to CJSC proposing CJSLE from NDU-P, ref 17 Aug 07 Ltr (18 Jan 08) • Center Approved, 21 Jul 08 [DLA, USTC, DUSD (L&MR), NDU-P, JS J-4]; Official Stand-Up, Oct 08

Center for Joint and Strategic Logistics Excellence • Upcoming Milestones: • Hiring: Director, Acting Director, Research Fellows • Brief at Joint Logistics Board, 24 Mar 09 • Develop landscape analysis of current logistic courses within Services, etc (Apr 09) • Note: Capitalizing on the Joint Logistics Education, Training & Experimentation Transformation Team’s (JLETT) work • Develop Logistics Core Curriculum for Service / Joint PME and other education programs (Jul 09),then coordinate with Services/stakeholders to build consensus (Sep 09) • Program Review, Sep 09 • Operations: Located at NDU; Modest Budget…approx $1-1.5M/yr • Personnel: Director, 3-4 researchers/officers, 1 admin

Joint Log Education Initiatives • National Logistics Curriculum (NLC) Review (17 Mar 09) • Army program managed by ALMC • Partnered with civilian universities that use NLC’s 12 Point Logistic Curriculum as a core • Goal is to update curriculum… “Areas of Emphasis”… invite Services to participate, market as Joint program, incorporate into Joint Logistics Core Curriculum • Joint Logistics Course / DAU Continuous Learning Module CLL 016 • http://www.dau.mil/basedocs/continuouslearning.asp • Updating to mirror JP 4-0

Joint Log Education Initiatives • Joint Logistics Course @ Army Logistics Management College (ALMC) • Reviewed & revised course / “operationalizing” curriculum • Leveraging e-learning opportunities…DAU & JKDDC • Socialize course with senior leaders…right people to the course, continue to expand course opportunities • Quadrilateral Logistics Forum – Logistics Training Requirements Working Group (Next WG 20 - 24 Apr) • Goal is to provide training to prepare logisticians to operate in coalition / MN environment at operational level • Multiple initiatives: • Developing / leveraging e-learning programs • Researching academic and other short term exchange opportunities • Training opportunities associated with participating in national exercises
