Everest Facts • It’s a really tall mountain. • 29,035 ft high • It’s really far away. • It’s summit is the border of Nepal and Tibet (China) • It’s really difficult to climb. • You have to train, plan, and commit yourself in order to conquer the summit. • Who climbed it first? • Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay on May 29, 1953, but first they had to base camp, then climb, and then summit.

  3. Mt. Everest It’s there. It’s a challenge. It can be scary. Successful attempts are rewarded. OAA It’s there. It’s a challenge. It can be scary. Successful attempts are rewarded. How does Mt. Everest apply to the OAA?

  4. Goals • Every student develops the self-confidence and self-efficacy for success • Each student improves on each OAA subject test • Achieve “Excellent” status as a school • Achieve levels of Peak Bagger, Clinmber, and Base Camper through classroom assessments

  5. How do I get to the “top”? • Learn the “Power Verbs” and apply them to your testing subject areas.

  6. Apply what you know on your way to the “top of the world!” • Your climb is determined by levels of success in individual subject areas. • Advanced performance will earn you the level of “Peak Bagger.” • Accelerated performance will earn you the level of “Climber.” • Proficient performance will earn you the level of “Base Camper.”

  12. Where will we be displaying our Apps? • Throughout our Everest stairwell, we will “download” (post) our Apps on the appropriate level. • 3rd Floor = Advanced • Middle Landing = Accelerated • 2nd Floor = Proficient
