In our Week 13 session, we focus on critical reporting goals and techniques essential for educational research. The session will include discussions of relevant readings, group work, and team consultations. Each group will present their final reports, with a 15-minute presentation followed by a 5-minute Q&A. Emphasis will be placed on communicating research findings effectively, ensuring every team member participates. Additionally, we will review deliverables, refine reports based on feedback, and discuss implications for practice as well as ideas for future research.

Cargo Cult Science vs. Scientific Integrity • First you have to not fool yourself • Things to think about • Do his comments only apply to (or allow for) objectivist research? • What might his type of “integrity” look like in education research? • Why can it be hard to do what he suggests? The importance of a warrant • Explicit chain of reasoning from evidence to conclusions • Examples • Things to think about • In what ways are his arguments similar to Feynman’s? • In what way are they different? Gorard on Warranting claims • Do his comments only allow for objectivist research? • Does he “get” constructivist / qualitative work?
