  1. Some of Christchurch’s Earthquake Damaged Buildings This is a tribute to some of the buildings that fell in the 2010 and 2011 Earthquakes Merivale Methodist Church Back Building – September 4 2010

  2. Villa Antiques - Merivale Villa Antiques was damaged after the first earthquake in 2010 with it’s side brick wall collapsing into the alley way and was demolished a few months afterwards Villa Antiques

  3. House of Travel - Merivale House of Travel was damaged after the first earthquake in 2010 and was condemned though it has not yet been demolished because it is no serious threat to the public so the council has left it there for now House Of Travel

  4. Merivale Methodist Church The Merivale Methodist Church was damaged in the main earthquake in 2010 leaving the front damaged and the back condemned but the earthquake in 2011 made the front building condemned too Merivale Church

  5. The Repertory Theatre The Repertory Theatre was damaged in the 2010 Earthquake and was attempted at being repaired but it’s fate after the 2011 Earthquake is unknown Repertory Theatre

  6. Edgeware Church Edgeware Church was severely damaged after the 2010 Earthquake and was demolished just a few weeks before the 2011 Earthquake Edgeware Church

  7. Papanui Junction The Papanui Junction Building was damaged after the 2010 Earthquake and demolition began the day before the 2011 Earthquake but came down in an aftershock after the earthquake Papanui Junction

  8. The Nurse Maude Association The Nurse Maude Building was damaged in the 2010 Earthquake and was demolished at some point between the 2010 Earthquake and the 2011 Earthquake Nurse Maude

  9. Eastgate Mall Eastgate Mall was damaged in the 2011 Earthquake with damage along the top with the bricks falling onto the pavement and will have to be knocked down and rebuilt. Eastgate Mall

  10. Huge Merivale BuildingQuinns / Monsoons Wedding / Isakelle This Merivale Icon came down in the 2011 Earthquake destroying the front of the shops below as you can see the aftershocks caused more of the front to crumble. Merivale Building

  11. Carlton Courts This old Christchurch Building was damaged in the 2010 Earthquake but was more seriously damaged in the 2011 Earthquake and was said to be demolished until heritage people stepped in and stopped it. Carlton Hotel

  12. Knox Church Knox Church was damaged in the 2010 Earthquake but as you can see was completely torn apart in the 2011 Earthquake leaving giant holes on every side of the building Knox Church

  13. Christchurch Cathedral The Christchurch Cathedral has a few cracks after the first earthquake in 2010 but was reopened to public soon after But was completely and utterly torn apart after the 2011 Earthquake. It even lost it’s prized spire. Christchurch Cathedral

  14. Manchester Courts Manchester Courts was damaged in the 2010 Earthquake due to cracked windows and cracks in the building It was demolished a month after the Earthquake Manchester Courts

  15. Barbados Catholic Cathedral This lovely looking Christchurch Building was undamaged in the 2010 Earthquake but was destroyed by the 2011 Earthquake. Basilica

  16. Pyne Gould Corporation The Pyne Gould Corporation Building was Completely destroyed by the 2011 Earthquake even though it was a new building though not really important it made a big Television appearance Pyne Gould Building

  17. Canterbury Provincial Chambers Not Much is known about the Canterbury Provincial Chambers but it literally crumbled to the ground in the 2011 Earthquake Canterbury Provincial Chambers

  18. Oxford Baptist Church The Oxford Baptist Church was undamaged in the 2010 Earthquake but was completely and utterly munted after the 2011 Earthquake Oxford Church

  19. Cashel Church Cashel Church was undamaged in the 2010 Earthquake but was completely wiped out in the 2011 Earthquake Cashel Church

  20. Durham Methodist Church The Durham Methodist Church was red stickered after the 2010 Earthquake but at the time of the 2011 Earthquake the church’s organ was being removed. Two men got out of the church as it collapsed but killed the other three men who didn’t escape fast enough. Durham Church

  21. ANZ Bank Chambers The ANZ Bank Chambers was on the corner of one of the worst effected streets, Manchester Street. It was undamaged in the 2010 Earthquake but fell at the hands of the 2011 Earthquake ANZ Bank Chambers

  22. Cashel Mall Cashel Mall was part of the oldest part of Christchurch and was beaten by nature in the 2011 Earthquake after surviving the 2010 Earthquake Cashel Mall

  23. CTV Building The CTV Building was a relatively new building but because of it’s design fell at the hands of the 2011 Earthquake killing many staff and Japanese students working there including it’s Manager so CTV is finished CTV

  24. The Press Building The Press Building was one of Christchurch’s oldest buildings and suffered minor damage in the 2010 Earthquake but suffered much more in the 2011 Earthquake. Though no one worked in it anymore it was still a big part of Christchurch. The Press

  25. St. Luke’s Anglican Cathedral St. Lukes Church was not a major part of Christchurch but was still shown as a damaged building. It could not withstand the power of the 2011 Earthquake and thus fell at nature’s power. St Luke’s Church

  26. St Albans Library St Albans Library was condemned after the 2010 Earthquake though it could be repaired but after the 2011 Earthquake it can easily be seen that it is beyond repair St Albans Library

  27. Grand Chancellor Hotel The Hotel Grand Chancellor was Christchurch’s Tallest building though it did survive the 2011 Earthquake the ground that it was built on gave way thus dooming Christchurch’s Tallest Building. Hotel Grand Chancellor

  28. Springfield Super Seven Dairy The Springfield Dairy was condemned after the 2010 Earthquake due to the back falling off along with the side walls splitting open. After the 2011 Earthquake the back suffered even more damage. Springfield Super Seven.1
