  1. Multimedia Feature Working with Multimedia Content in Web Pages

  2. Objectives • Add a Macromedia Flash movie to a Web page • Add video to a Web page • Add audio to a Web page • Understand multimedia formats and streaming

  3. Starting FrontPage and Creating a New Web Page • Click the Start button on the Windows taskbar, point to All Programs on the Start menu, and then point to Microsoft Office on the All Programs submenu • Click Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003 on the Microsoft Office submenu • If FrontPage opened a previously opened Web site, click File on the menu bar and then click Close Site

Starting FrontPage and Creating a New Web Page • If a new Web page named new_page_1.htm is not displayed in Design view, click the Create a new normal page button on the Standard toolbar to create a new Web page • If a task pane appears, click the Close button on the task pane • Apply the Ice theme with vivid colors to the Web page

Creating the Layout for the Web Page • Click the Center button on the Formatting toolbar • Click the Style box arrow on the Formatting toolbar and then click Heading 1 in the Style list • Click the Font Color box arrow on the Formatting toolbar and then click red • Type James Keeler’s and then press SHIFT+ENTER

Creating the Layout for the Web Page • Type Multimedia Showcase and then press the ENTER key • If necessary, click the Style box arrow on the Formatting toolbar and then click Normal in the Style list • Type Below are three of the multimedia projects that I completed for the capstone and then press SHIFT+ENTER • Type course, Multimedia Marketing, in my senior year. and then press the ENTER key

Creating the Layout for the Web Page • Click the Insert Table button on the Standard toolbar and then drag through the grid to create a 3 by 2 table • Release the mouse button • Type the descriptions of the multimedia content in the cells of the table as shown in Table 1 on page FP 659 • Select the first line of each cell with the newly added text and then click the Bold button on the Formatting toolbar

Adding a Macromedia Flash Animation to a Web Page • Click anywhere in the top-left cell of the table • Click Insert on the menu bar and then point to Picture • Click Movie in Flash Format • When the Select File dialog box is displayed, navigate to the Feature3 folder on the hard disk and then click TrelaneCollegeBannerAd • Click the Insert button

Setting Properties of a Macromedia Flash Movie • Right-click the Macromedia Flash movie placeholder • Click Movie in Flash Format Properties • When FrontPage displays the Movie in Flash Format Properties dialog box, click the Quality box arrow and then click Auto High in the Quality list • Click the General tab • If necessary, deselect Auto play in the Playback area

Setting Properties of a Macromedia Flash Movie • Click the OK button • Click the movie to select it • Use the sizing handles to change the size of the movie placeholder to approximately one third the width of the Web page • Drag the vertical cell border between the column until the size of the top-left cell of the table matches that of the movie

  14. Saving the Web Page • Click the Save button on the Standard toolbar • When FrontPage displays the Save As dialog box, select Local Disk (C:) in the Save in box • If necessary, click the Create New Folder button and type Feature3 in the Name box on the New Folder dialog box

  15. Saving the Web Page • Click the OK button • Type MultimediaShowcase in the File name box and then click the Save button in the Save As dialog box • If prompted to save other files, save the files in an images subfolder of the C:\Feature3 folder

Adding Video to a Web Page • If necessary, scroll down to the second row of the table and then click the right cell in the second row of the table • Click Insert on the menu bar and then point to Picture • Click Video • When FrontPage displays the Video dialog box, navigate to the Feature3 folder on the Data Disk

  18. Adding Video to a Web Page • Click the TrelaneVideoAd file • Click the Open button in the Video dialog box • If necessary, click the video and use the sizing handles to resize the video as shown on the following slide

  20. Setting Properties of a Video • Right-click the image representation of the video • When FrontPage displays the shortcut menu, click Picture Properties • When FrontPage displays the Picture Properties dialog box, if necessary, click the Video tab • Click On mouse over in the Start area

  24. Adding an Image to a Web Page • Click the bottom-left cell in the table • Click Insert on the menu bar and then point to Picture • Click From File • When FrontPage displays the Picture dialog box, if necessary, navigate to the Feathre3 folder on the Data Disk

Setting the Properties of Audio Content • Right-click the radio image • When FrontPage displays the shortcut menu, click Picture Properties • If necessary, when the Picture Properties dialog box is displayed, click the Video tab • Click the Browse button • When FrontPage displays the Video dialog box, navigate to the Feature3 folder of the Data Disk and then click the TrelaneCollegeRadioAd file

  28. Setting the Properties of Audio Content • Click the Open button in the Video dialog box • In the Start area in the Video sheet, click On mouse over • Click the OK button • Use the sizing handles on the radio image to resize the image as shown on the following slide

Completing the Web Page Layout • If necessary, scroll to the top of the table and then click anywhere in the table • Click the table tag button to select the table • Click the Center button on the Formatting toolbar • Drag the right border of the table until the right border is aligned approximately with the end of the text in the first line of the second heading

Saving the Web Page, Previewing the Web Page, and Quitting FrontPage • Click the Save button on the Standard toolbar • Click File on the menu bar and then point to Preview in Browser • Click 1 Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 • Right-click the Macromedia Flash movie and then click Play on the shortcut menu

  33. Saving the Web Page, Previewing the Web Page, and Quitting FrontPage • When the movie is finished playing, click the video or move the mouse pointer over the video to play the video. When the video is finished playing, scroll to the radio picture and click the radio picture to play the audio. Depending on the media players installed on your computer, you may need to right-click the image and then click Play on the shortcut menu • Click the Close button in the Microsoft Internet Explorer window • Click the Close button on the right side of the FrontPage title bar
