  1. Opening sequence analysis: War Lord of War

  2. Lord of the WAR • It was released on September 16th in 2005 in US • It was directed and produced by Andrew Niccol • It was Produced by Entertainment Manufacturing Company, Saturn Films, Ascendants Pictures • The main Cast id Nicholas Cage, Orlov Bridget, Moynaham and Jared Leto

  3. Narrative • See the process of how different bullets are made and how they are transported • Pov shot of the bullet going through the rifle being fired through the scene- the idea that the movie is to do with war and shooting through the guns and shooting • Transported far by as ship showing that the bullets are being sold internationally- meaning the war could be worldwide • The colour pallete is dark blue- blue is seen as a sad colour connoting the movie will be sad and traumatic and death will happen • The end of the opening sequence the bullet hit a girl in the face this is graphic and scary as it was a young girl and children and war shouldn't mix so it make us think who the girl is and how she fits into the narrative and if we find out more about who she is • There is no specific characters that are shown in the opening sequence we learn more about the surrounding and what is going on in the scene • We see the workers that are are manufacturing the bullets and the boss of the factory who is supervising all the workers making sure they are doing the right tasks

  4. Target audience • More male orientated • 25-60 as it a war movie so it more aimed at the older generation that have been to war and can resonate with the feeling war • Middle class people old people

  5. Key conventions for War • Weapons and Bullets- stereotypical of a war film du to the fighting and violence, guns are always used in war film as is mimic real life war • Location : small developing town , poor is usually the areas where war movies and wars take place ( developing countries) • Violence- it shows the violence of war and how people get hurt and how brutal it is and how people die and get hurt, nobody is safe

  6. Key moments Camera work sound • POV shot if the bullet travelling through the rifle like we are the bullet and we see it journey • It also gives us the perspective of the solider and how he fights and his journey through war • Non diegetic music which creates binary opposition of the scene and juxtaposes the violence going on when he is killing people • There is the sound of bullets and people picking up the bullets so you feel as if you are apart of the war and we are in battle

  7. key moments Editing • Matched action- the tracking movement matches the action of the bullets journey this creates continuality and a good flow between the scenes

  8. Conclusion • I think it is a successful because it fit the stereotypical war type because it show violence and a peak into what war is like • However it doesn’t show the true trauma of war and how much PTSD and pain it cause to people
