  2. Security Enforcement • Getting the Attention of Security • Not cooperating with staff in Res. Halls • Acting out, i.e. assault, disorderly conduct • Health & Welfare • Obvious policy violation

  3. Process • Provide Identification • If under 21; • Placed under citizens arrest • Police called – citation issued • 21 and over • Any alcohol in possession taken • Any acting out behavior may be dealt with criminally

Consequences • Court system for any criminal issue • 1st alcohol offense $262.00 • 2nd alcohol offense $362.00 • 3rd mandatory court appearance • Misdemeanor up $1000 and/or 90 days jail • Gross Misdemeanor up to $3000 and not a felony or misdemeanor • Felony more than a year of imprisonment • Petty misdemeanor – not a crime such as parking ticket or some traffic offenses

  5. Consequences • On campus adjudication system • Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities • Hearing officers in Student Affairs Office as well as Residential Life • Consequences can very

  6. Records • Campus records • Some data is protected • Protected data can be gotten through a court order • Law enforcement data • Arrests are public information • Very little information is protected • Public involvement checks

  7. Alcohol Related Incidents • False name – can range from misdemeanor to felony • Assault – can range from misdemeanor to felony • Criminal Damage to Property – depends on value • Theft – often mistaken with burglary, depends on value

  8. Alcohol Related Incidents • Disorderly Conduct – generally misdemeanor • Sexual Assault – generally felony • Intoxicated person cannot give consent • DWI – can range from misdemeanor to felony • Very expensive
