  2. What is matter?

  3. Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space. • Everything in the universe that you can see or touch is made up of some type of matter.

  4. Volume • All matter takes up space. • The amount of space that matter occupies is its volume. • Can two objects take up the same space at the same time?

  5. The formula for volume is: Length x Width x Height

  6. Mass • Another characteristic of all matter is mass. • Mass is the amount of matter in an object. • Your mass never changes, no matter where you go in the universe,

  7. Weight • Your weight is only the measure of the force of gravity on you. • It will change if you leave the surface of the Earth.
