From GHES kids to kids in Guatemala...
Here are half of the 100 chicks purchased with donations from our classroom family.
The other half of the chicks were given to villagers in memory of Noah Mayberry. Noah was known for enjoying money and food:) The chicks were given in his memory so villagers could enjoy the same.
Her apron was full of baby chicks, socks were under her arm, and a bag full of much needed food in her hand.
Out of gratitude for the food and chicks, this lady gave us her prize possession, a rooster, in order to say ‘Thanks’. We passed it on to another family in need.
An individual from GHES donated money so that food could be distributed to feed families in 3 villages.
Bags of food provided much needed rice, sugar, salt, beans and pasta. This would last about four days for a family
Children were excited to see people coming to their village...
Many homes are very modest... cornstalk walls.
The Guatemalan people are very resourceful. This baby swing is made out of a rice bag.
This little girl had learned to read and was very excited about getting some books!
Here is a typical classroom in the villages of Guatemala. We hope to help this school in June of 2012.
There are about 150 students with only 3 teachers in the school. Children have trouble learning because they are hungry.
A new feeding program is being established, beginning January of 2012. It is our initial goal to feed all the children in the village (about 150 children) twice a week.
It takes $506 a month to feed a village of children twice a week. $3.38 will feed 1 child twice a week for a month $10 will feed 25 children for a day $29 will feed half the children for a day $58 will feed all the children for a day $116 will feed all the children twice for a week $506 will feed all the children twice for a month If you would like more information seewww.giveandteach.org
