  2. Mid Term Exams Review and return.

  4. Literature Circles 1st block: Chapters 36 and 37 of Huck Finn. Chapter 36 – whole class; chapter 37 lit circles 5th block: Grade reports handed out. Discrepancies must be in writing on your grade report! Make sure you show me your ‘receipt’ (graded work).

  5. Writing Work on your outline for the essay. Outline due next class.

  6. Honors

  7. Responding to Literature Take out a clean sheet of paper; write your name at the top. Read the following poem by Robert Frost: The Span of Life The old dog barks backward without getting up. I can remember when he was a pup. Write for 5 minutes a response to the poem – anything that comes to mind. Are the words familiar? How does the title relate to the poem? What about the rhythm or the sound? What do you think the theme is?

  8. Reading and Reacting Read “Araby” as a whole class. Read “Responding to Literature” pgs. 1 – 11 and pgs. 38 – 45.

  9. Homework Get an IR book by Mon/Tues Continue working on paper – research and drafting A 4 – 6 page draft due on Wed Feb 1 (A)/Thurs Feb 2 (B). Academic: complete outline Honors: Get The Catcher in the Rye if possible by Mon/Tues. Honors: Finish reading “Araby” and “Responding to Literature” if not complete in class.
