  2. Introduction: Do you like video games? Video games are very fun and interesting. If you like video games you should read our presentation because you will find interesting facts that you may not have heard before!

The History of Video Games • The first video game was called “Spacewar“ and was invented by a college student in the 1960s. • Since computers were still really expensive and almost the size of a room back then, not many people got to play Spacewar. • The Sega company started making arcade games in the 1960s. • The name “ Sega “ came from the first two letters of the words ‘’service‘’ and “games.” • In Japan, an arcade game called “Space Invaders” became so popular that Japan started running out of coins! • The arcade game “Pac-Man” became so popular in America that it was on shirts, breakfast cereal boxes, and cartoons! • An engineer named Ralph Baer is known as the father of video games because he made the first ones that could be played in many homes. • Atari was one of the first popular home game systems. • The word “Atari” came from a Japanese board game and means “check.” • Nintendo became a popular home game system in the 1980s. • In 1989, Nintendo created Game Boy, the first handheld game system. • Since then, many other game systems have been invented. • Online games like World of Warcraft have also become popular and are played by millions of people.

Nintendo • Golden Eye was supposed to be a rail game. • Nintendo means ”leave luck to Heaven” in Japanese. • The Nintendo 64 was released in 1996. • The WII uses motion-sensing technology. X Box360 • The end level of Halo Reach has the name of the first level of Halo1. • Halo Reach is rated M. • Sonic Unleashed is made by Sega. • Most Sonic games are rated e10. Arcade Style • The Pac-Man ghosts have names. • Mario was first a character from Donkey Kong . • The fist Sim game was Sim City. • There is a Mrs. Pac-Man game.

Video Game Designers • Some experienced game designers make over$100,000 a year. • Video game designers conceive the main idea of the game. • Video games take their players to virtual worlds. • The game designers make games for arcade machines and home systems. • Some games they make are educational. • Game development offices are full of activity. • All video games are made on computers. • Programming requires a lot of time on a computer. • It can take hundreds of hours to make a video game. • Making video games is challenging, but worthwhile!
