  2. home HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE COMBINATION OF YOUR MAIN PRODUCT AND ANCILLARY TEXTS? My main product and the ancillary product worked well together. I made sure that my film poster and double page spread had a reoccurring theme so that it was obvious that they were both about the same thing. I made my poster before my theme and I used a specific three colour, colour theme as I didn’t want it to look too busy, and from research, this is what a lot of film posters consisted of. I then chose to do my double page spread with the same colour theme, so that they complimented each other and so there was an ongoing theme that suited the style of my short film, which was psychological. The colours which I used were black, red and white, with a few different shades. I think that this aspect worked really well and it was very important that everything matched and suited one another. The fonts on the double page spread compared to the fonts on the film poster do differ slightly, but this is because of the different conventions within the poster and the spread. On the poster, the font is quite bold and impacting so that is really taken notice of, and the poster really needs to grab your attention and have an impact on the audience. The double page spread does have sharp, eye catching text for the title, which is where the audience need to be drawn in, but the column text is smaller, in a simple font, and a good enough size to read, this is what I found typical within the research on double page spreads. However, there is a slightly different colour added onto this spread which isn’t within the poster, and this is the slightly blue colour, coming from the image from the film, but I wanted to add an image from within the film as this was a typical convention from what I had seen in my research. Overall, with my film, the poster, and the double page spread, I am happy with how everything went as I did try to stick as closely as possible to the codes and the conventions needed. I think that if I had some more time, I would make some of the text on the poster a bit smaller, as looking at it now, I am concerned that it may take some attention away from the main image and the title. I am happy with the progress and research I have made, and am pleased with my final outcome.

  3. home WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM YOUR AUDIENCE FEEDBACK? Audience feedback really helped me to make decisions on my film; it was helpful to know what the audience would like to see within a film and what they would expect. Without the audience feedback before making the film, I wouldn’t know what specific conventions I would need to include within in my film that would successfully attract them. After I had made my film, I composed a questionnaire to give out to a range of ages and genders for after they had watched my film. This would then show me if it successfully attracted the right target audience and then as well, if it attracted other ages, so a wider audience that it would successfully impress. The questionnaire results suggest that my film was successful, and did meet the correct conventions and was suitable for my audience at which I was aiming my film. There were a few areas that didn’t come out as strong as some of the areas such as music, there was a few people who said that the music could have been thought out and more suited to film, which is something that I will think about for the future. Other than this, I found that my film is well suited to the audience and I met the suitable needs for my particular genre.

  4. HOW DID YOU USE MEDIA TECHNOLOGIES IN THE CONSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH, PLANNING AND EVALUATION STAGES? Within the process of my coursework pieces, I did use a lot of media technologies in order to help me with my research and construction. home PHOTOSHOP Photoshop helped my a lot within this course as this is what I used mainly to create my final poster and double page spread. I did find it difficult to use at first, as I knew what I wanted to do, but couldn’t, so I used the internet for tutorials on what I wanted to achieve. I now know how to use this application a lot better now, and without it, I couldn’t achieve the success I felt I had made with my poster and double page spread. WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER This application helped me with some of the construction of my movie, when I was struggling with Premier Pro, I used this application to put scenes together that were hard, then would put them on to Premier Pro. I have learned how to use this application better than I used to know how to use it. Without this, I would have found my short film harder to put together. PREMIER PRO Premier Pro was an application in which I had never used before. I found it really difficult to use when I first started, but looked at a lot of tutorials from other people and from the internet. I do think now that it helps you in order to make your films look more professional and flow better. As I kept practising I did get used to it, and I couldn’t have made my film the way that I did without this application. WORDPRESS Word-press is a blog which I have been using since I started the course, and it has helped me to document my progress, pretty much step by step. It also helped me because it allowed me to view previous blogs by other people in the past, and allowed me to see what they did to improve their work, which would inspire me and help me. This would also help in a lot of research, looking on other blogs, and this was a massive help. Something that was very helpful to me within this course was definitely the internet. The internet allowed me to conduct my research, and find out everything that I needed to know about my chosen genre and films related to it. It also helped my to browse other peoples blogs so that I could get an idea on how I could improve my own work. As well as research and inspiration, the internet helped me within the construction of my work because I used the internet to get, and download all of the sounds and the music in which I used for my film. I don’t think that I would have been able to achieve what I have achieved with the internet, as it has helped me in many ways, and I couldn’t have learned how to use other applications without it, so it is the most important application within the course, because without it, I couldn’t have done that much within my coursework. I have also now learned the best ways to browse the internet in order to find out what can help me, and what I want to find out. I have now learned how to use more technologies within media, and how I can successfully use them in order to achieve what I want/need to achieve, and I wouldn’t have been able to do that without this course.
