Solving Sinusoidal Equations and Triangle Problems in Homework
Explore the challenges of sinusoidal equations and triangle solving through real-world applications! In this homework set, we will determine the constants A and α so that for every value of x, 2cos(3x) + 5sin(3x) equals Asin(3x + α). Additionally, we will solve a triangle with given angles and sides, and analyze the mechanical aspects of bike wheels and sprockets, including calculating angular speeds at various RPMs. Join us in reviewing these fun yet educational topics!

Remember Sinusoids? • Find the constants A and α so that for every value of x:2cos (3x) + 5sin (3x) = Asin (3x + α)
Review “Stuff” Elena got ANOTHER new bike! Solve the following Triangle: α= 42°, a = 6, b = 7 • These bike wheels are 1 yard in diameter, with the pedal sprocket ¾ ft in diameter and the wheel sprocket 6 inches in diameter. The wheel sprocket is spinning at 300 RPM. Find the angular speed of the wheel and both sprockets.
Homework!! • Pg. 395 #43, 60 • Find the “derivative” of y = sin x • Pg. 589 #1 – 8 all, 17, 18, 21, 22
