  3. John left Abigail to raise the family and manage the farm alone, over 2,000 letters sustained their relationship. A Life Through Letters…

  4. Abigail opposed slavery. “I wish most sincerely that there wasn't a slave in the province... To fight ourselves for what we are robbing daily from those who have just as good a right to freedom as we have!Abigail Adams

  5. “Men of Sense in all Ages abhor those customs which treat us only as vassals of your Sex” Abigail fought for many women rights including the right to own property.

  6. Although Abigail did not receive formal education, she believed the nation needed women with proper schooling in order to excel.

  7. Abigail did not let laws prevent her from carrying out her ambitions. She successfully managed a farm to her name, even if women were not allowed to do so.

  8. 1st Abigail was the first First Lady to occupy the White House. She was also the first woman to be wife of a president and mother of another.

  9. ABIGAIL ADAMS INFLUENCED MANY WOMEN Before her death, Abigail ignored the laws and created a will, an action only men were allowed to fulfill.
