Removal of divalent manganese from aqueous solution using Tamarindus indica Fruit Nut Shell

Removal of Mn(II) ions from aqueous solution through adsorption on to Tamarindus Indica Fruit Nut Shell (TFNS) in its pristine and acid treated forms was studied. TFNS a tannin-containing material was characterized by porosity, SEM and FTIR analysis. Experiments were carried out as function of pH, concentration of metal ion, amount of adsorbent and contact time. The equilibrium characteristics of Mn(II) adsorption was described by Freundlich and Langmuir isotherms. The kinetic data were fitted to pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, chemisorption, fractionary order and Weber-Morris model. Based on error function analysis, it may be concluded that pseudo-second-order and chemisorption models gave a better representation of the data compared to other models. The monolayer adsorption capacities of pristine and acid treated forms of TFNS were found to be 122 and 182 mg/g respectively. A compression has been drawn on the extent of biosorption between pristine and acid treated form of TFNS. Due to their outstanding adsorption capacities, TFNS is an excellent adsorbent for the removal of Mn(II) ions.

A spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of the beta adrenergic blocking drug propranolol. The method was based on the formation of Mg(II), Pb(II), Fe(II), Mn(II) and Ni(II)-dithiocarbamate complexes from the secondary amine group of propranolol with carbondisulfide (CS2) and the acetate salts of the metals in ammonia me- dium. and The interaction of the Propranolol with Pb(C2H3O2) 2 , Mg(CH3COO) 2 , Mn(CH3COO) 2 , C14H27Fe 3O18, C4H6NiO4 in methanol has been investigated by conductometric method under equilibrium conditions 1-6 . The stability constants of the complexes were determined using a GENPLOT computer program7 .

Impact of Dielectric Constant on Binary Complexes of Ca(II), Zn(II) and Mn(II) Ions with L-proline

Binary complexes of Ca(II), Zn(II) and Mn(II) with L-proline was investigated pH-metrically in 1,2-propanediol-water mixtures by maintaining an ionic strength of 0.16 mol.L -1 at 303.0 K. The best-fit chemical models for present study are ML , MLH2 and ML2H for Ca(II), Zn(II) and Mn(II) ions are established from modelling studies using computer program MINIQUAD75. Some errors influence the magnitudes of stability constants and its order is alkali > acid > ligand > metal. The graphical representation of log u03b2 against 1/D of the medium shows that dominance of electrostatic interactions. Distribution diagrams of the various species of the binary complexes in relation to pH at different variations (0.0-60.0% v/v) of propylene glycol-water mixtures were presented.
