  4. Why Swampscott High School? Highly qualified teachers • 100% are certified in their field • Proven competency in subject area on MTEL • 90% have Master’s Degree or greater in their subject area

  5. Why Swampscott High School? High student performance Since 2011, MCAS passing rates have been… • 99% for freshmen in science • 95% in English (grade 10) • 88% in math (grade 10) SHS is designated a Level 1 School; we meet or exceed our targets for performance on state tests

STEM ACADEMY • To prepare every student to communicate and compete as global thinkers through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics • Cohort of students work with a select cluster of teachers to integrate instruction and projects across the curriculum • Individually provided Chromebooks to encourage use of technology

Student Involvement • We encourage all students, beginning in 9th grade, to become involved in the life of Swampscott High School. • Clubs and activities, open to all students • Students learn leadership and collaboration – 21st century skills • Build relationships with faculty and administrators beyond the classroom
