8th Grade Science Overview - Grading, Assignments, and Communication

Welcome to 8th Grade Science with Mrs. Sessions! In this class, students will engage in various graded activities including lab reports, tests, homework, quizzes, and participation. Expect a literacy focus that emphasizes reading and writing in science. Weekly homework is assigned every Monday, due Wednesday, alternating between essays and artistic projects. Vocabulary assignments are due every Friday. Students can reach out for assistance after school or via email or phone.   3. Things that are graded: • Lab Reports • Activities • Planner • Tests • Homework • Science Notebooks • Quizzes • Participation/Attendance

  4. Lab Reports: WASL Promps • According to specific procedure

  5. School Wide Literacy Focus • 8th Grade Science class is very reading and writing intensive

  6. TESTS: • At least 1 per quarter or Unit

  7. Science Homework: • Due every Wednesday • Usually Assigned on Mondays • One week is a one page written essay or observation • The next week is an artistic representation • Assignmentsnot completed in class are extra homework and may be assigned anytime

  8. Vocabulary : • Due every Friday • All must do definitions • All must include word pyramids

  9. Learning Concepts: • Properties of Matter • Life Structures and Function • Ecosystems

  10. How and when to reach us: • After school until 2:40 (coaching) • Anytime by email asessions@psd1.org • Anytime by school phone • By special arrangement
