The Industrial revolution • Industrial Revolution was a time period when machines were invented and used to do work that had previously been done by hand. • Began in the 1800s in Great Britain • Population—large number of people to work • Water—used for power/electricity • Railroads and Steamboats—used to move products • Resources—abundance of natural resources

The Industrial revolution • People began to move to America in the late 19th century and early 20th centuries • Farmers—plenty of available land • Resources—also had an abundance of natural resources • Inventions—new machines led to easier completion of tasks • Money—available for factories • People were open to new ideas

  6. The Industrial revolution • The first industry to industrialize, use machinery, was the Textile (cotton) industry. Inventions such as the spinning wheel, spinning loom, and the cotton gin all added to the movement.
