Demand reimbursement for broken treaties B. 1968 Native Americans take Alcatraz Island counties on Native American reservations are among the poorest in the country and, according to the Economic Research Service at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, nearly 60 percent of all Native Americans who live outside of metropolitan areas inhabit persistently poor counties.
