This analysis evaluates the nutritional needs of National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC) cadets aged 13-16, particularly focusing on necessary dietary components for their high activity levels. It identifies essential nutrients, such as carbohydrates for energy, proteins for coordination, and vitamins like Vitamin C for healing. The study critiques a typical meal of chicken cutlet, highlighting its high-fat content and lack of Vitamin C and fiber. It suggests a healthier alternative meal consisting of roasted chicken, rice, potato, cauliflower, orange, and milk, which better meets the cadets' nutritional demands.

Identified Group • NPCC • National Police Cadet Corps
Analysis of Dietary Needs • Age Group: 13-16 • Level of activity: High • Specific Dietary Nutrition: • Carbohydrates • To provide energy. • Vitamin C • Helps to heal cuts and wounds and prevent infection. • Proteins • Help to co-ordinate certain bodily activities, e.g. Foot Drills
Stall • Western Stall • Meal: chicken cutlet
Nutritional Value • The meal provides ample amount of energy and proteins, however it lacks vitamin C and fibre. It also contains a lot of fats as the chicken is deep fried hence a lot of oil is accumulated in the chicken.
Evaluation • NPCC will get only get their calories and protein from the meal. Others like vitamin C and fibre are neglected. This are equally important, especially to a teen that is still under going growth.
Suggested Meal • Rice • Roasted chicken • Potato • Cauliflower • Orange • Milk
Suggested Meal • Estimated Cost: $3 to $4 • Roasted is the healthiest among steam and deep fried etc (taken from hpb.gov.sg), hence we chose roasted chicken. • The potato and cauliflower are to be boiled as boiling is much healthier den frying because it does not need to use oil.
Comparison • Proteins now take up 3/4 of the recommended amount in one day • Carbohydrates now take up ½ of the recommended amount in one day • Vitamin C now take up 2/3 of the recommended amount in one day
Comparison • Hence, our meal caters better to the NPCC cadets as they require lots of energy, protein and vitamins. Also, our meal does not neglect other nutritional values like calcium, iron and fibre
