2. IEEE R10 MDC GREAT NEWS !! R10 is AGAIN the LARGEST in IEEE worldwide as of DECEMBER 2005 !! R10 Membership 62533 vs 60870 of R6 (+1663) But R10 Growth of -1.6% vs. -1.1% of R6 R10 Meeting Chiang Mai

4. IEEE R10 MDC 2005 Review • 2005 showed decline in Mem. Dev. after the big comeback growth in 2004 • R10 growth in 2005 consistently Lower in Members & HG Members, and Higher in Students than in 2004 -- Matter for REAL concern for 2006! R10 Meeting Chiang Mai

5. IEEE R10 MDC SOME HIGHLIGHTS of 2005 • 3 new SUBSECTIONS (vs 1 in 2004) – Sri Lanka Central, New Zealand Central & Chandigarh • 27 new SOCIETY CHAPTERS (vs. 17 In 2004) • 59 new STUDENT BRANCHES (vs 49 in 2004) • 2 new GOLD Groups (vs 2 in 2004) – Victorian, Delhi R10 Meeting Chiang Mai

IEEE R10 MDC SOME HIGHLIGHTS of 2005 • As in past year, R10 grant to SBs was distributed based on SBs’ membership on 31st Dec. and SBs list provided to Sections • Sent several messages to Sections raising concern on drop in Members and calling for specific action • Introduced at Tampa meet an INCENTIVES package for Sections for MD achievements, of $250 in each category – to be paid from 2006 – Details sent to Sections R10 Meeting Chiang Mai

IEEE R10 MDC TARGET vs ACTUALS 2005 Overall target +5%vs-1.6% • Fellows: add 27 vs 17 added • Senior Members: add 156 vs 176 added • Members: add 1762 vs lost 2737 • HG Members: add 2264 vs lost 3604 • Student: add 913 vs 2589 added • Total mem: add 3177 vs lost 1015 NOT A PRETTY PICTURE AT ALL ?! IEEE R10 MDC 2006 OUTLOOK • 2005 showed decline after the big comeback growth in 2004 – this shows R10’s potential not being tapped well • For 2006, target of 7% overall growth wrt Dec 2005, with a focus of 10% growth in Members • EVERY Section SHOULD have a Membership Dev. Chair (HQ target) R10 Meeting Chiang Mai

IEEE R10 MDC 2006 OUTLOOK • Special focus for Sections on MEMBERS retention & recruitment • Consolidate SBs and Student retention • Student to Member tracking with help of GOLD • Student-to-Member Retention Incentive for Sections being introduced • 2006 MD BUDGET pegged at $ 29500 R10 Meeting Chiang Mai

12. The Incentive Proposal • Incentive Bonus will be awarded annually in each of three categories – Senior Member, Member & Student Member. • Bonus payment of US$ 250 will be paid to the Sections achieving in each category as follows: R10 Meeting Chiang Mai
