  3. One of my fondest memoriesWas sittin' on my daddy's kneeListenin' to the stories that he told He'd pull out that old photographLike a treasured memory from the past And say childThis here's the Van Lear RoseOh how it would bring a smile When he talked about her big blue eyesAnd how her beauty ran down to her soulShe'd walk across the coal miner's yard Them miner's would yell loud and hard and they'd dream of who would holdThe Van Lear Rose (Chorus:)She was the belle of Johnson CountyOhio river to Big SandyA beauty to behold like a diamond in the coalAll the miner's they would gather 'round Talk about the man that came to townRight under their nose Stole the heart of the Van Lear Rose Now the Van Lear Rose could've had her pickAnd all the fellers figured richUntil this poor boy caught her eyeHis buddies would all laugh and sayYour dreamin' boy she'll never look your wayYou'll never ever hold the Van Lear Rose(Chours)Then one night in mid JulyUnderneath that ol' blue Kentucky skyWell, that poor boy won that beauty's heartThen my daddy would look at my mommy and smileAs he brushed the hair back from my eyes and he'd sayYour mamaShe's the Van Lear Rose VAN LEAR ROSE

  6. The Lighthouse Tale I am a lighthouse, worn by the weather and the waves. I keep my lamp lit, to warn the sailors on their way. I'll tell a story, paint you a picture from my past. I was so happy, but joy in this life seldom lasts. I had a keeper, he helped me warn the ships at sea. We had grown closer, 'till his joy meant everything to me. And he was to marry, a girl who shone with beauty and light. And they loved each other, and with me watched the sunsets into night. [Chorus:]And the waves crashing around me, the sand slips out to sea. And the winds that blow remind me, of what has been, and what can never be. She'd had to leave us, my keeper he prayed for a safe return. But when the night came, the weather to a raging storm had turned. He watched her ship fight, but in vain against the wild and terrible wave. In me so helpless, as dashed against the rock she met her end. [Chorus]Then on the next day, my keeper found her washed up on the SHORE. He kissed her cold face, that they'd be together soon he'd swore. I saw him crying, watched as he buried her in the sand. And then he climbed my tower, and off of the edge of me he ran. [Chorus]I am a lighthouse, worn by the weather and the waves. And though I am empty, I still warn the sailors on their way.

I dunno how 'bout the power of flight? That do anything for ya? That's levitation, holmes. How 'bout the power to kill a yak from 200 yards away...with mind bullets! That's telekinesis, Kyle. How 'bout the power to move you?[sung]History of Wonderboy and Young Nastyman,Riggah-goo-goo, riggah-goo-goo.A secret to be told, a gold chest to be bold,And blasting forth with three-part harmony, yeow!Wonderboy, what is the secret of your power?Wonderboy, won't you take me far away from the mucky-muck man?[spoken]Well, Wonderboy and Young Nastyman joined forces;they formed a band the likes of which have never been seen, and they called themselves Tenacious D. That's right,[sung]Me!
