In working partnership with the Friends of Friendless Churches which owns 34 disused but historically important places of worship in England and Wales. • Council for British Archaeology www.archaeologyuk.org • The CBA is concerned with historic buildings and sites of all periods and with promoting appreciation of their archaeological significance. • Special focus is on Grade II buildings, on vernacular and industrial buildings, and on multi-period buildings where an understanding of the building's archaeological and historic interest is important. • The Garden History Society www.gardenhistorysociety.org • Promotes the protection and conservation of historic parks, gardens and designed landscapes, and advises on their restoration. • The Georgian Group www.georgiangroup.org.uk • Concerned with architecture from the late 17th century to the early 19th century but with a watching brief over earlier and later Classical buildings. • Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings www.spab.org.uk • The oldest conservation society in the English-speaking world, founded in 1877 by William Morris and others. • Concerned with pre-1700 buildings. • Expert knowledge of conservation techniques and philosophy of repair. • Educational programmes for owners and professionals • Runs National Maintenance Week. • The Twentieth Century Society www.c20society.org.uk • Concerned with buildings from 1914. • The Victorian Society www.victoriansociety.org.uk • Concerned with Victorian and Edwardian buildings 1837 - 1914.
