6. Through the years… • Cannibalism has been seen as wrong and it is. • What is it really? • What causes it? • Exceptions? • Morals • Against human nature • NOT a natural instinct

7. Definition: Noun The act of eating one of your own Ceremonial, takes place at a ceremony of eating one of your own kind Choosing to do so

9. Commonly used for • Fear • War • Love • Promise • Getting closer to family • Symbolic • Religion • War

10. Survival • October 24th, 1765 • Peggy – 8 men aboard as well as cargo • Supplies not enough • Why? • Storm left boat stranded • 2 months stranded, no food • Ate own clothing • What would you do?

11. Peggy • Slave ( considered cargo ) • Killed and eaten • Lasted 16 days before men began to get hungry • Began to draw lots on who was to be eaten next • Luckily, Peggy rescued the next day – no one else had to be eaten • Admitted to eating human flesh • Do not consider themselves cannibals

Morals. Ethics. • How is eating someone more respectful then keeping them in tact?
