Impact of USAID Interventions on Health Outcomes in Madagascar: 2003-2004 Preliminary Findings

This report presents preliminary findings from the 2003-2004 Madagascar Demographic and Health Survey (MDHS) focusing on the USAID intervention areas. It assesses the impact of health interventions on maternal and child health (MCH), family planning, nutrition, breastfeeding, and vaccination in two provinces, which house over 50% of Madagascar's population. The study engages over 5,000 women and nearly 1,700 men to evaluate trends in fertility rates, birth intervals, teenage pregnancy, contraceptive use, medical assistance at delivery, vaccination coverage, and more, targeting the rural population significantly affected by these programs.
