  3. Before you get too far! • MAKE A LIST! • Excel, or just a word document • Categories: Applied, Contacted, Heard Back, Followed Up, etc.

  6. Overall Suggestions • Follow up! • Have a killer cover letter • Have an even BETTER resume • Show your personality • Be aggressive

  7. RESUMES Do’s and Don’ts, formatting, you name it.

DO! • List all of your contact information • Include a website IF YOU HAVE ONE • Concentrate on readability… spacing, em dashes, etc. • Use different weights of fonts to differentiate importance • This is someone’s first impression of you. Proofread proofread proofread! Considerations: • Paper color and quality • Home/permanent address vs. school address • Personal vs. school email

  9. DO NOT! • Concern yourself with a logo if you don’t have one • Go overboard with color • Have more than one page • Have too many long descriptions • Have a category with only one item in it

FORMATTING: • Name • Education • Miami University, Oxford OH • Degree and expected graduation date • GPA • Honors • Can include published pieces, scholarships, awards, etc. • Activities • List dates of participation as well as status in the organization • Can be combined with honors • Work Experience • Stuff you got paid for or internships • Related Experience • Classes such as Highwire Brand Studio, Armstrong Interactive studio, Multidisciplinary Studio, ect. • Skills • Proficiency vs. Competency • Contact Information!!
