  1. A Space of My Own Lindsay Louise Duvall

  2. Description • 6500 Bypass Road • Paris, Kentucky 40361 • 1,695 feet of green • 11 fields • Bathrooms on the left side of the complex • Stoner Creek running parallel to the complex • Waste Water Treatment Plant on the other side

  3. Along with coaching and teaching the kids how to play, I also refereed at the Paris YMCA Soccer Complex since the time I was 14 years old, all the way up to the present.

  4. The picture below shows the soccer team who I have played with since I was 10 years old. I grew up with all of these girls and I consider all of them to be my best friends. Without them, I absolutely would not be the person that I am today.

  5. Coaching • Bitty Soccer and U12 Springboks • Right: Bitty soccer coaches • I helped teach 3 and 4 year old boys and girls how to play the game of soccer. • I also helped coach my dad’s U12 girls Springbok soccer team, which I continue to do today. • Right: A few girls practicing before a game.

  6. Family involvement In the picture to the left, the girl in the center is my sister, Lauren and the girl on the right is my cousin, Niki. These two are just two of the many soccer players that are in my family, extended family as well.

  7. John williamduvall III • My dad has been contributing a lot of time in his life to making sure that the Paris/Bourbon County YMCA Soccer Complex is in absolute perfect condition. • As you can see in the picture to the left, sometimes mother nature doesn’t agree with his time-consuming volunteer work, and the fields become flooded, forcing my dad to put in more work to get them back to the status quo.

  8. What johnny does • Mows all of the fields to a level playing field • Coaches a U12 girls select soccer team for free • Paints the goals before the beginning of every season in order for them to look presentable • Puts every single kid that registers into the “LeagueOne” system and also puts them all onto teams. • Finds coaches to coach the teams • Paints the lines of every game field before every weekend • Puts up fences in order to keep intruders out.

  9. Life lesson count I’ve Learned…. Always earn what you receive. If you do not earn what is given to you, you can never feel the feeling of accomplishment. Never give up. Whether it was playing or coaching, never give up on whatever challenge has been put in front of you. If you give up, you will never succeed. Respect. Respect is one of the most important qualities to possess because if you treat people with respect, nine out of ten times they will treat you with respect as well.

  10. significance The significance of the Paris/Bourbon County YMCA Soccer Complex is more than just a place that I spent my time, it is a place that I learned important necessities of life, learned to get along with the people around me, and where I developed the relationships that I will keep through my entire lifetime.
