Sniper Ranking • Read the following article, The Getaway Gunman and… • Find the resources used to solve the case, rank them on 1 being the most important to whatever # you reach being the least valuable. • Then look at the list of sources you just took note on and rank each type of evidence using the list in the Unit 7 Journal 1 handout • What are the top three for the case? Eyewitness? Expert Opinion-what?

Assume an investigative role, pretend that you are a public safety official looking at the evidence in the article, The Getaway Gunman • Each group will… • Halfof the student groups will create a timeline of incidents using a calendar. What patterns do they spot in the incidents? • The other half will map the incidents, noting the locations on a map. What patterns do you see? At the bottom of your timeline or map, answer… • Where do you think the sniper might hit next, based on incident history and your observations. • 15minutes-use the lab-come back with your timeline or map! Be ready to share!

  8. 5minute Reflection Write What, if anything, could have prevented the DC shootings? • Consider the public debate about gun ownership and the Second Amendment in regard to the incidents in the DC sniper case: Would more restrictions on gun ownership have prevented the crimes? • Are there other steps that could be taken by government and public safety agencies that might have prevented the shootings?
