  2. Navajo Indians • Largest tribe located in Southwest • Followed and learned from the Pueblo • Used sheep for food and clothing • Lived in Hogans built from wooden poles, tree bark, and mud • Reservation currently located in Arizona- 140,000 people

  3. Sand Paintings • Medicine man used them for healing ceremonies • Ground herbs and pigments into sand • Done on the floor of their homes that are called “hogans” • They were destroyed at the end of the ceremony • Reflect Navajo environment and lifestyle

  4. Balance • Both sides are equal to the eye.

  5. Symmetrical • Exactly the same on both sides of the line of symmetry.
