  1. SURFACE TREAMENT RECMAN LUKÁŠ

  2. ABSTRACT • Developed ceramic material and its surface treatmen. • 2 possibilities of surface protection. • Sizing and Reactive coupling of fibers. Treatmen – úprava Develop - rozvinout Fiber – vlákno Coupling - connection between two things so they move together. Sizing - any glutinous material used to fill pores.

  3. REACTIVE COUPLING OF FIBERS. • Protection of fibers (mechanical damage during processing, promote fiber-matrix adhesion). • Coupling agents (chemically bond the reinforcing fibers to the polymeric matrix). damage – poškození matrix – matrice promote – zvýšit reinforce – posilit, posila

  4. COUPLING. • Covalent bonding between fiber reinforcement and thermoplastic matrices. • Oligomers of polysulfone are grafted to glass fibers to promote chemical bonding to the corresponding thermoplastic. • Graft – roub, roubovat

  5. FUNCTIONS OF SURFACE TREATMENT • Protect fibers from surface abrasion and damaging effects of humidity. • Mixture of the sizing agent with lubricant is used to minimize fiber breakage. • The function of a coupling agent is to promote fiber-matrix adhesion. abrasion – obrušování humidity – vlhkost breakage – lámání

  6. COUPLING AGENTS • Organosilanes X3SiR. • X groups are hydrolizable to form silanols and form a chemically bonded polysiloxane coating on the fiber surface. • R group is chosen to be chemically reactive with the matrix phase.

  7. Obrázek

  8. COUPLING AGENTS • Oligomers of polysulfone PS or polycarbonate PC are grafted • A partialy stable polyethylene terephthalate/polyhydroxybenzoic acid PET/PHB termotropic liquid crystalline polymer TLCP is used as a compatibilizing agent between a highly aromatic TLCP fiber and matrices of PET an PC

  9. SIZING • Protection. • A sizing contains ingredients to provide lubricity and binding action. • Starch, oil, wax, PVA........... • Removed befor use. Lubricity – kluzkost strach – škrob wax - vosk

  10. PRACTICAL USE 3MTM NextelTM Industrial Fibers & 3MTM NextelTM Composite Fibers. FEATURES Low schrinkage. Goog chemical resistance. Low termal conductivity. Thermal shock resistance. Low porosity. Unique electrical properties. Low elongation at operating temperatures. Not respirable

  11. CERAMIC FIBERS AND COMPOSITES. • Aluminium-boria-silica. • Composites have glassy and crystalline phase

  12. NEXTEL FIBERS

  13. TYPICAL APPLICATIONS • Shields, curtains, linings, blankets. • Aerospace (NASA). Shield – štít Curtain – přepážka, záclona Lining – podšívka, lemování
