Notifications • Norms were notified under • Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 • The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 • Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989 • Emission norms were first notified in 1991 • New vehicles • In-use vehicles • Emission norms were revised in 1996 • Auto Fuel Policy Committee set up in 2001 • Auto Fuel roadmap in August 2002 • Bharat Stage I (Euro I equivalent) were introduced from April 2000 in Delhi and subsequently to other 3 metro cities • Bharat Stage II in Delhi from later half of 2000 extended to other 3 metro cities in 2001
