CONFERENCE PLANNING: BEHIND THE SCENES • Cause/Effect • Setbacks from FRC have caused the chapter to adjust the budget for the year • Unable to provide food for tonight’s meeting • Chapter dues “help” • A comment box will be placed on the chapter’s website (www.eng.fsu.edu/NSBE) for you to voice you questions and concerns

CONFERENCE PLANNING: BEHIND THE SCENES • For Future Reference • If there are questions or concerns, please address them to your Conference Planning Chair, Treasurer, or President as soon as you have them • During Conference season, please make your decisions as soon as you possibly can. • Planning is easier with a definite number (or a relatively close count) of participants to ensure the chapter doesn’t lose a large amount of money

CONFERENCE PLANNING: BEHIND THE SCENES • Conference Preparations • Fall Regional Conference (FRC) • Chapter accommodations include only hotel and travel • Food is generally not provided unless you are a graduating senior (luncheon) or PCI student • National Convention • Same as FRC, chapter provides you with a package deal for hotel & round trip transportation • NSBE does not provide food, but there are several hospitality suites, lunches, etc. that are company-sponsored

  15. WHY SHOULD YOU PAY FOR CHAPTER ACCOMMODATIONS? The stress of planning your own trip is eliminated Travel & hotel are PACKAGED together so you pay one set price It provides a time for the chapter to bond with each other It brings the price down for everyone else that is going Travel & hotel are PACKAGED together so you pay one set price

NATIONAL CONVENTION • March 31st-April 4th 2010 in Toronto, ON, Canada • http://convention.nsbe.org/convention2010/ • Registration - $95 for Early Bird • $140 after December 31st • Volunteer: 3 hrs/day for 3 days = $45 reimbursement • Hotel - $200/per person • Passport • Start process ASAP • More info coming later

PASSPORT INFO • 1st Time • You must apply in person • Birth Certificate or proof of citizenship • $100 processing fee • 2 photographs • Identical • In color • 2 x 2 inches in size • Taken within the past 6 months, showing current appearance • Full face, front view with a plain white or off-white background • Between 1 inch and 1 3/8 inches from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head • Taken in normal street attire
