Rural Development Division

  2. An Overview RDD as one of the NAPC Divisions focuses on: • Rural livelihood • The relationships between the rural sector & other sectors of the economy • RDD uses the methodology of sustainable livelihood approach Firas Haider , Rural Development Division

RDD Outputs • Study on Non-Agricultural Income in Rural Areas • Study on Poverty & Migration Trends in Rural Areas (published in 2007) • Four working papers on poverty differences, rural infrastructure, non-ag. activities, women empowerment • Two policy briefs on rural infrastructure & non-ag. activities • Two policy notes on poverty differences & rural infrastructure Firas Haider , Rural Development Division

Non-Agricultural Activities in Rural Areas Objective • Investigate and assess the extent and nature of non-farm activities in rural areas • Develop a suitable methodology & conduct analysis in selected regions • A pilot study to test the methodology and gather first hand information • Assess the existence, relevance, characteristics of non-farm activities in rural areas Firas Haider , Rural Development Division
