  2. mCLASS: Math • mCLASS: Math is an assessment that serves as a progress monitoring tool and also helps to identify at-risk learners. • Assessments are given at the: • Beginning of the Year (BOY) • Middle of the Year (MOY) • End of the Year (EOY) • mCLASS Information (click)

  3. Kindergarten & 1st Grade Assessments • 4 assessments are administered. Students are given 1-minute for each assessment. • Counting: Students are asked to count as high as they can, starting at 1, until they are instructed to stop. Mistakes are recorded on the iPad. • Missing Number: Students are asked to find the missing number from a series of numbers. The missing number is either in the beginning, middle, or end of the number series. All mistakes are recorded using the iPad. • Example:

  4. Assessments Continued… • Number Identification: Students are shown numbers and asked to identify them by name. Again, mistakes are recorded on the iPad. • Example: • Quality Discrimination: Students are shown 2 numbers in a box. Students are asked to identify the largest or biggest number in each box. They are able to either point to the number or say it orally. • Example:

  5. Additional 1st Grade Assessments Again, these assessments are 1-minute in length and all mistakes are recorded on the iPad. • Next Number: Students are given a number orally and they are asked to say the number that comes next. For example, the teacher would say “2” and the student should say “3”. • Number Facts: Students are given addition sentences orally and they are to respond with the sum or answer. For example, two plus three. The students should say “5”.
