  1. I. Water Supply Networks and FacilitiesTopic I.2. Water Consumption: Norms, Regimes, and Design Flowrates Kinds of water consumption: • Potable water consumption • Industrial water consumption • Fire water consumption Basic factors, influencing water consumption: • Kind and scale of the consumer • Level of urbanisation and of the sanitary equipment of the buildings • Water prise and the way of water consumption measurement and payment • Climate and cultural level of the population • Water supply system management and current state of the assets

  2. Water Consumption Norms Definition: Water volume used by one consumer (human, animal, bird) or needed for unit industrial production per definite period (day, hour, work period). General classification: I. According to the level of integration • Lump (integrated, general) norms • Specific (differential) norms II. According to the consumer • Norms for potable water for population • Norms for washing the streets • Norms for drinking water for workers at the industry • Norms for a client or visitor (at the restaurants, hotels - for settlements, mountain an see resorts) or a patient (at the hospitals) • Norms for fire water supply

  3. Water Consumption NormsFor settlements Functional type Water supply norms of the settlement [l/d.cap] 2000 2010 2020 Capital 280 300 310 I 260 270 280 II 245 260 270 III 215 220 230 IV 190 200 210 V 130 160 170 VI 130 150 155 VII 130 135 140

  4. Water Consumption NormsFor fire water supply

  5. Water Consumption RegimeDefinition: Water consumption variation during a definite period (day, year).

  6. Water Consumption Regime Variability coefficients: • Coefficient of daily variability - Kd Kd = Qmax,d/Qav,d • Coefficient of hourly variability - Kh Kh = Qmax,h/Qav,h;

  7. Design Water Flowrates • Average (mean) daily flowrate - Qav,d Qav,d = N.q/1000,[m3/d] N - number of population q - water supply norm, [l/d.cap] • Maximum daily flowrate - Qmax,d Qmax,d = Kd .Qav,d Kd = 1 + 1,35/N0,12 • Maximum hourly flowrate -Qmax,h Qmax,h = Kh .Qav,h = Kd. Kh .Qav,h /24 Qav,h = Qmax,d/24, [m3/h] Qav,h = Kd.Qav,d/24, [m3/h]
