Websites: Advertising on the Internet is a recent development, it tends to be a cheap of form of advertising which allows organizations, companies to advertise nationally and internationally at a much cheaper cost than other forms of advertising. One way of advertising is for the company to own a website. Web designers are employed to design the web using web authoring package. Large initial cost for website/can be expensive to maintain. The website has to have many features such as multimedia, sound, video or animations etc. It must be made easy for the users to navigate so hyperlinks are created to other sites or pages. The contact detail and product or services it offers must be obvious to the user. Customers would have to have a computer and be connected to the internet to see websites. Websites and presentations are easier to update as you don’t have to reprint a lot of copies • Advertising on other people’s websites: Advertising on existing websites is a cheaper alternative. One method is by adding a banner to the top of the screen advertising the product or service of the organization. Company doesn’t have as much control over the host’s website as it would over its own. Another way is by pop-up advertising where little windows suddenly appear on top of the web page when a user accesses it. (Pop-up grabs user's attention. Can upset users who then do not shop there in future. Users have pop-up blocking software which doesn’t allow blockups to appear. Can use pop-unders which are not removed by pop-up blocking)
Getting an online directory: Organizations can advertise their name by getting it included in an online directory. The directories are for the businesses and service providers. Not only is the placed alphabetically it is also placed under the correct business/service section. The business is relying on the customer to have all the necessary equipment's so that they will be aware of the advertisement
Multimedia presentations: Presentations are made using presentation software such as; sound, video, text, images, animations, hyperlinks. They are displayed on large screens in places such as malls and smaller screens in supermarkets. An advantage is that the mall, shop or store is open at all time. Advertising companies see these as a major revenue earner as more businesses request it. • Presentations can only be seen in a limited number of places • Presentations have multimedia features and are easier to update used on purpose-built display monitors placed in strategic locations • The presentation/slide show is produced using presentation software • Has range of multimedia - sound, video/ animation,(text, images) • Other features e.g. slide transition effects, special text effects, image transition • Always on while mall or store is open • The user cannot switch it off
